About the Slickr Flickr WordPress Plugin

Slickr Flickr makes it easy to display a set of photos held in your Flickr account either as gallery, a galleria or as an unbranded slideshow in posts, pages, or sidebar widgets.

Slickr Flickr can be downloaded from downloads.wordpress.org

I created the plugin because there were no other plugins that allowed unbranded slideshows of Flickr photos to be easily added to WordPress sites. This site should help you make the most of the plugin and get support if you need it.

Hi Peter,

I patched the Galleria 1.2.5 code to fix this problem and just assumed (obviously incorrectly) that the Galleria developer had fixed the problem in version 1.2.6 so the latest version does not have my patch

To get around the issue you can change your Slickr Flickr Admin Galleria option to use version 1.2.5 .

Alternatively, you can apply the patch yourself – it is described here – http://getsatisfaction.com/galleria/topics/could_not_extract_width_height_from_image_in_webkit_browsers

In any case, the next release of Slickr Flickr will have the patch applied to the Galleria if required.

Hi, Russle – I have version 1.37, yet in FireFox I still have the “Could not extract width/height from image” errors for my thumbnails. I had FF8 and upgraded to FF10, but no difference.

Thanks
Peter

Hi Lee,
Use options=”width:600px;” For other galleria params see http://galleria.io/docs/1.2/options/

Hi Russell,

Love your plug in :) Just have a question about the galleria frame. We need it to be 600 px wide, and I was wondering if it was possible to make it so in the regular version, or does that require pro?

Thanks

Russell December 10, 2011 at 11:57 am

Maria, I am not sure exactly what you mean by latest sets; you can get latest photos by NOT specifying any tag or any set.

For example, [slickr-flickr type="galleria" items="20"] displays the 20 latest photos i the galleria

Maria Anatro December 10, 2011 at 12:42 am

How do you set a galleria to auto update with the latest sets added in your Flickr account?

Russell July 24, 2011 at 5:35 pm

Thanks Robert, WordPress comments do not always render quotes correctly. I will go and fix the offending comment

Robert July 24, 2011 at 4:18 pm

Oh, here’s what had the bad examples, which led me astray: http://www.slickrflickr.com/56/how-to-use-slickr-flickr-to-create-a-slideshow-or-gallery/

Robert July 24, 2011 at 4:16 pm

Aha, just figured it out. I can’t recall the exact URL, but some example on your website displayed replacing the quotes with “"”. Simply replacing those with a ” character did the trick. I feel dumb, but now I’d like to know what specific page actually had that mistake so I could suggest a correction. :)

Old and busted:
[slickr-flickr search="sets" set="72157627140428551" items="5" ]

Working code:
[slickr-flickr search="sets" set="72157627140428551" items="5" ]

Russell July 24, 2011 at 10:48 am

Thanks for alerting me to the help page not working. The page works in preview mode. When I disabled WP-Super Cache and it started working again. How bizarre it that?

It sounds like Slickr Flickr is fetching from your photostream and not a photoset. (did you include search=”sets” in the command?

If that is not the problem then the next questions are:

What specific slickr-flickr command are you using? What is your Flickr ID? What is you page URL? Which version of Slickr FLickr are you using? How you very recently moved photos out of the photoset in question?

Regards

Russell

Hi there. I’m trying out the free version of your plugin and I’m having an odd issue. First off, I’m running the latest version of wordpress (3.2.1) and your plugin. I have a flickr pro account with hundreds of photos organized into sets. I am trying to display the photos from a single set in a gallery. I’m appropriately using the “set=” parameter when using your gallery… and I get some odd behavior.

The five photos from the set load fine. Everything scrolls correctly… but then the slideshow starts scrolling through photos that aren’t in the set. Not behavior I can live with (setting this up for someone running for local office here). Have you seen this behavior before?

PS: Your regular help page isn’t loading. :(

Hi, I have just sent through the username and password for the membership site to your gmail account (The site is not on this URL which is why the forgotten password did not work)
