Slickr Flickr Release 1.8 – with a choice of LightBox

Slickr Flickr Version 1.8, the number one WordPress Plugin for unbranded Flickr slideshows, has just been released with some great new features.

In response to requests from its users, Slickr Flickr has three new features which allow you to set up up your slideshows and galleries to appear the way you want:

• An automatic slideshow option on the galleria
• An optional border for the slideshow
• Large Thumbnails in the gallery

Large Thumbnails

Flickr can display your photos at up to 6 different sizes: ‘square’ (75×75 px), ‘thumbnail’ (100×75 px), ‘small’ (240×180 px), ‘medium’ (500×375 px), ‘large’ (1024×768 px) and the original photo size. Slickr Flickr can use any of these sizes.

For thumbnails the standard size is ‘square’ however by using the ‘thumbnail_size’ and ‘thumbnail_scale’ attributes you can use larger thumbnails as shown below. I choose ‘small’ Flickr photos (at 240px) and then reduced their size to 60% to give large thumbnails of 144px in width.

Slickr Flickr LightBox Compatibility

Many Slickr Flickr users have asked if the plugin can run alongside their favorite LightBox – a LightBox is the feature that displays the full size version of a photo in an overlaid window typically when the user clicks on a thumbnail version of the photo. The new version now supports a number of LightBoxes:

• standard LightBox
• standard LightBox with automatic slideshow
• ThickBox (bundled with WordPress)
• FancyBox for WordPress (requires separate plugin installation)
• LightBox Plus for WordPress (requires separate plugin installation)
• Shutter Reloaded for WordPress (requires separate plugin installation)
