Show Captions Automatically On Galleria Classic

March 30, 2016 by Russell 6 Comments

In Slickr Flickr Pro 2.6.1 I have added a parameter to the Galleria Classic theme: _showCaption.

By default this is set to false and current functionality is unchanged.

However, if you set it to true, then the caption appears as open in the Galleria and not closed (just the i symbol om a circle)

Here is an example. Thanks to Simon for suggesting this feature.

slickr-flickr id="94415871@N04" search="sets" set="72157663232819340" type="galleria" size="large" descriptions="on" galleria_options="autoplay:5000;imageCrop:true;carousel:true;transitionSpeed:2000;transition:fadeslide;responsive:true;_showCaption:true"

Woolton Wheelers

slickr-flickr id=”94415871@N04″ search=”sets” set=”72157663766296701″ type=”galleria” size=”large” descriptions=”on” galleria_options=”autoplay:5000;imageCrop:true;carousel:true;transitionSpeed:2000;transition:fadeslide;responsive:true;_showCaption:true”

    Hi Russell

On the Wooton Wheelers example you have given the example as:
    slickr-flickr id=”94415871@N04″ search=”sets” set=”72157663766296701″ type=”galleria” size=”large” descriptions=”on” galleria_options=”autoplay:5000;imageCrop:true;carousel:true;transitionSpeed:2000;transition:fadeslide;responsive:true”

How is the “_showCaption” applied in this example. In both my sites I have upgraded to v2.6.1 and everything is working spot on without application of this parameter!

    Kind regards

_ShowCaption:true was set on both slideshows. (There post was originally incorrect in that is was missing that parameter in the code sample but actually including in the slickr-flickr comand that was being used

Note this applies to mobile devices such as an iPad and Samsung phone only. A pc without this entry still displays the i closed. Adding it:

    slickr-flickr search=”sets” set=”72157663232819340″ type=”galleria” size=”large” descriptions=”on” galleria_options=”autoplay:5000;imageCrop:true;carousel:true;transitionSpeed:2000;transition:fadeslide;_showCaption:true;responsive:true”

    resolves it on a pc

    regards

    Simon

There was no device specific code in the Galleria Classic theme so I expected desktop and mobile behavior to be the same.

Did you want the feature to be _showCaptionIfMobile:true ?

That is, only show caption automatically if the display is a mobile device?

Its fine exactly as it is.

I just wanted to raise an interesting observation.

I had not changed any of my slickrflickr strings i.e by adding _showCaption:true but the behaviour was different on pcs v ios and android devices.

On the mobile devices the title/description was open by default (which is fine as the i is hard to open on touch screens)

on a pc these were closed.

In my opinion this is fine.

    Kind regards

    Kind regards
